Saigon Bar, West Palm Beach Review

by Krista

I have been thinking of this place non-stop since my first visit. Sure, it’s in a nondescript strip mall on Okeechobee and there may be a huge tractor trailer delivering 500 mattresses while you are trying to park, but this place is worth a visit.

I thought I took pictures during my first trip but apparently not. I ordered the pork chop and it came with a little bowl of broth and the broth was so amazing. Ever since, I’ve been plotting a return trip.

I started with the summer rolls. Luscious! Amazing. Get these. With the peanut sauce. Eat them all on site. They don’t keep well overnight in the fridge. (The wrapping gets a little tough.)

I asked my server what to get and he recommended the beef with onion. It doesn’t look like much but man, was this delicious. And enough for 3 hungry people. 4 not-so-hungry people. I ate a lot of beef and onion that night. And the next day. And the next day. I’m not certain the beef and onion comes with broth or they just brought me the broth because I mentioned I liked it. But ask for some broth! (Or get the pho.) It is fantastic. Deep. Love it.

Danny the chef has come out to say hi during both my visits. He says he makes broth “the real way.” I don’t know what that means but it certainly feels real.

The Verdict: I’ll be back again and again.
