20 years ago, a fortune teller in Hong Kong told me something like “Whenever you are given the chance to move, you should move. Moving is good for you.” And I totally agree. There is something about finding a place to live and setting up a new apartment that I absolutely love! I am still trying to get my head around Downtown West Palm Beach, but here are some of the resources that I’ve found most helpful and interesting. There’s a lot of overlapping content within the Facebook groups in particular but they each have their own angle.
The Engage West Palm Facebook Group: This group covers lots of different things from happy hours to concerts and events to crime and homelessness and local news. It’s been a great way to get up to speed on what people care about in West Palm Beach.
Downtown West Palm Beach Facebook Group: This group is much more focused on what’s happening downtown in West Palm. More local options for me. More happy hours (I think West Palm is obsessed with happy hours?) and local business specials.
Downtown Neighbors Association: This organization has interesting events about different developments in the city.
City of West Palm Beach Facebook Group: This group is put together by the city so it has more of a civic spin with city events.
Visit West Palm Beach Facebook Group: This is put together by the Tourist Information Center so it has more of an event-y angle to it. Apparently, I need to get ready for polo season.
West Palm Beach Arts & Entertainment District Facebook Group: This group focuses more on artsy events happening around town.
Nextdoor West Palm Beach: I’ve used Nextdoor (and the much better but now defunct Everyblock) in Chicago and loved it. Nextdoor here doesn’t have a ton of traffic or activity at the moment but I’ll keep checking.
Reddit West Palm Beach: This isn’t the most active sub but they can be helpful if you have a specific question.
